How was theBalm first started?
A:
Marissa Shipman originally created a line of lip balms after ordering books from amazon.com on how to make makeup. Her interest quickly turned into an obsession. In just a short time, theBalm grew into a full range cosmetic line, complete with skincare and nail polish.

Can you tell us a little bit about the different product lines theBalm carries?
A:
theBalm carries a full color line-complete with everything from complexion to highlighters. Hot Ticket nail polishes come in 33 colors, with a variety of textures and finishes. TimeBalm Skincare has literally every product you could ever need for any skin type- it’s based on botanicals and has great colorful packaging people love to showcase in their bathroom!

What makes theBalm lines different from other products on the market?
A:
theBalm is proud to offer high-quality, multi-tasking products. They feature clever, woman-empowering messaging, and gorgeous vintage-inspired packaging. theBalm also believes that with the right combination of dual-purpose products anyone can achieve a gorgeous look in a short amount of time- a philosophy referred to as “Beauty in 5 minutes”.

How would you describe the packaging style for theBalm products?
A:
We often portray a vintage aesthetic, but we love to put our modern, unique twist on it. The verbage is often packed full of double entendres and clever sass.

We noticed that all the names of the products are fun and unique. How do you go about creating them?
A:
Each product is different- sometimes the concept of the product comes first, sometimes the name or design concept leads the way.

Which products are the most popular in the lines?
A:
Mary-Lou Manizer and our Nude’tude palette are hard to keep in stock!

Is theBalm currently available for purchase internationally?
A:
Yes, we are actually sold in 53 countries.

And lastly, what’s it like working with pugs? Are they productive in the office?
A:
Wheezie and Buddy are very productive since their only job responsibility is sleeping (besides inspiring the rest of the staff to be more adorable)!
