Givenchy introduced Monsieur de Givenchy in 1959, envoking the classical elegance of Hubert de Givenchy himself. The fragrance consists of lavender, vervain and rose geranium at the topnotes. In the middle is citrus and warmed with oakmoss, sandalwood and vetiver.

    I buy it for my husband and it's a shame that the fragrance is in a hard-to buy category now! It's such a classy citrusy chypre smell, that every time I smell it on him I feel a bit of an old romance book heroine...

    A classic cologne. Very pleasant and not overpowering, yet says quite a bit about the man who is wearing it. Classic style. Not trying to impress because he does not need to try. This is something that the old Hollywood stars would have wore back in the Golden Age.
