Introduced in 1792, the original 4711 was first made in Germany by Ferdinand Muelhens. A wonderfully refreshing citrus-based fragrance, 4711 warms to a light floral-woody base. Made with world's finest essential oils, including sandalwood from India, attar of roses and vetiver oil from Haiti. A scent that can be worn by a man or woman.

    In any season,after cleansing the body,use 4711 Cologne as a splash-friction-massage, lightly but firmly rubbing limbs towards the heart area;massage shoulders and neck muscles; gently pat and press a small amount of 4711 on all surfaces of the ears(accupressure points in this area stimulate all the internal organs of the body). In Wimter, this friction- massage can help prevent or mitigate the effects of colds or flu. Alles Gute!! CMJ

    I think the fragrance of the 4711 is fantastic! It's a sweet, almost piney smell, but yet not piney at all. I think this s a great spring and summer fragrance, but can be all year round. I love the bottle and box. they are keepsakes.

    The Monks who created this fragrance sure got it right. Perfect for right out of the shower, casual, daily use and as a freshner during hot summer days. I buy the 27 oz. bottle and transfer to an atomizer for easier application.

    This is a fantastic fragrance which is highly versatile. You can splash it on during hot weather to cool your skin with a lovely scent; you can use as an everyday, casual fragrance; you can splash it on after bathing to provide additional freshness; or, you can spray it on your bedding at night to lightly scent your sheets for rest. I love 4711 and used to buy many of their products while living in Europe and especially visiting Germany. If your preference is citrusy, fresh scents, THIS is one you simply must try!
