Beauty Encounter is a premier online source for fragrances and
beauty products that offers consumers an exceptional range of
hard-to-find, international and specialty products including men and
women’s fragrances, skincare, cosmetics, hair care, and beauty
accessories.
With more than 1,000 unique brands and new products added daily,
customers have access to exceptional customer service and secure online
shopping. In addition to thousands of beauty products that can be
purchased at affordable prices, Beauty Encounter shoppers find unique
sections with tips, trends and techniques.
Founder and CEO Jacquelyn Tran helped build her family’s wholesale
beauty retail company. In 1999, Jacquelyn saw a new business opportunity
by using the internet as a sales tool, and shifted the company’s focus
to selling fragrances online. She created the retail website and
continued adding an array of beauty products from different categories,
such as cosmetics, hair care and skincare.
Beauty Encounter is consistently given high ratings by consumer advocate
websites for reliability, customer service and product selection. In
2008, Internet Retailer magazine ranked the online beauty source on its
“Top 500 Guide,” and Inc. Magazine listed it on its “5,000 Fastest
Growing Private Companies in America” list. In 2008, the company was
named a “Gold Honoree for Excellence in Service” by BizRate, joining an
elite group of internet retailers rated the "best of the best" by
millions of online shoppers.
Most recently the company was accredited by the Better Business Bureau
(BBB). |

Jacquelyn Tran,
President and CEO |
 |
| |
I’m the President and
CEO of Beauty Encounter, formerly Perfume Bay. I spend
my days interacting with customers, vendors, partners
and staff via e-mail, over the phone and face-to-face.
My parents started their business selling fragrances and
cosmetics when I was 6 years old.
They specialized in
carrying a wide selection of fragrances, including
hard-to-find items.
In college, I took on various office
jobs while working weekends at my parent's beauty retail
store. In 1999, I decided to start a website to expand
my parent’s retail business online, and the rest is
history.
Why I love my job:
I love being able to inspire others and to work with a
great team. |

Duke
Lang, IT Director |
 |

I’ve always had an
interest in the IT industry. In fact, at age 17, I
started building and selling computer parts. Eventually
I moved on and worked as a Systems Administrator for a
probation department. I just love the challenge of
starting a project and following it through--it's very
rewarding.
I’m definitely a guy’s guy--I’d much rather watch Tiger
Woods sink an incredible putt than get a manicure. But,
through the years, I’ve become more open to the idea of
male grooming, as I’ve been introduced to awesome
products like refreshing after-shave balms.
My worst beauty blunder:
Once, I tried to cut my own hair, which quickly turned
into a disaster. I ended up having to shave my entire
head to fix the mess. As you can imagine, my girlfriend
was not pleased. |

Erin Reilly, Marketing Manager |
 |
| |
I’m the
self-proclaimed “beauty junkie” of Beauty Encounter. As
Marketing
Manager, I’m in charge
of planning, managing
and executing all things marketing
for the site.
Prior to landing at BE headquarters, I spent five years
working in the marketing
industry with
agencies in
Florida and Southern California. I’ve worked with
high-profile clients in various
industries including
beauty, entertainment and food
and beverage. My
specialties include getting
clients coverage in national
media
outlets and creating integrated marketing
communications
campaigns.
Must-have beauty/skincare/haircare item:
Lip gloss! Shiny and moisturized lips can make anyone
look great. |

Linda Tong, Product Content Manager |
 |
| |
I’m the Product
Content Manager for Beauty Encounter, which means I post
new product releases on the website on a daily basis.
Prior to working for BE, I gained experience working in
both marketing and public relations.
My office is the first spot new products arrive at to
get entered into our database. We launch an average of
150 new products each week! The marketing team loves
snooping around the boxes that surround my desk, eager
to discover the delicious scents and fun packaging
hidden inside.
Must-have beauty/skincare/haircare item:
Face wash. I like the refreshing feeling of having
absolutely nothing on my face. |

Administrative Assistant |

Here at Beauty
Encounter, I’m known as the Jane of All Trades, meaning
I’m involved somehow or another in just about every
aspect of the business. My role is to help out our
President, Jackie, and to brainstorm new ideas for the
future of BE.
Prior to arriving at BE, I spent eight years working for
an electronics part distributor. I began my career there
as a receptionist, and climbed my way up the ladder to
become the owner and CFO’s assistant. I’m thrilled to be
sharing my business savvy with Jacquelyn and the BE
team, and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
I’m currently obsessed with:
La Mer--when it fits within my budget. |

Kristine Viray, Marketing Coordinator |

Hi everyone! I’m the Marketing Coordinator here at Beauty Encounter. I support Erin on all aspects of marketing for the business. This includes marketing for the site, social media and PR outreach.
I recently graduated from Chapman University in Southern California with a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies. My prior experience includes working for a public relations agency and full-service interactive marketing and communications agency.
My worst beauty blunder:
Over plucking my eyebrows. After long months of growing them back out, I now leave it up to the professionals to maintain!
